Jack Kennedy An Unforgettable Man - 1858 Words
Jack Kennedy ââ¬Å"That unforgettable, elusive manâ⬠said Jacqueline Kennedy referring to her husband John Kennedy. Jack indeed an unforgettable man. In this book written by Chris Matthews, it shines light on the wonderful life cut short of Jack Kennedy, as it accounts for many interesting situations. Jack Kennedy was full of charisma, and loved to test the higher power, and thatââ¬â¢s why I believe he succeeded as a human being. Born in 1917, the second son out of an eventual nine children. His older brother Joseph Kennedy, born in 1915, entered a prestigious boarding school in Wallingford, Connecticut known as Choate. This leaving Jack a tough act to follow, Jack at Choate was not to be a copy of the much-admired Joseph Kennedy Jr., as he was able to see the humor in life. Jack also in his early life had dealt with a chronic back problem and stomach problems, with no doctor knowing what was wrong. One doctor even guessed that he had Leukemia. Where Jack got most of his intelligence while in the hospital, as he would lie in the hospital bed there was nothing to do except read. Jack being a sick, skinny child in the hospital, while everyone else participated in sports, he would read. Jack never had anyone to confide his secrets to in his early life, but that changed once he met an eventual life long pal known as Lem Billings. Lem and Jack were the best of friends at Choate. Another pal the two had was Rip Horton. Jack had entered Choate a lonely kid and left a ringleaderShow MoreRelatedThe Legacy of John F. Kennedy1917 Words à |à 8 Pageslegacy? Basic Guide to Using Spanish Adverbs
Like an adjective, an adverb is a type of word that often is used to provide needed details. Although we could make grammatically complete sentences without them, we would be severely limited in what we could convey. What Are Adverbs? Spanish adverbs are much like their English counterparts. There are at least two ways in which we can define what adverbs are: Words that tell us when, how, or where the action or process in a sentence takes place.Words that modify or limit the meaning of a verb, adjective, adverb, or entire sentence. As in English, most Spanish adverbs are derived from adjectives. Most Spanish adverbs that are derived from adjectives end in -mente, just as in English most end in -ly. Examples of Adverbs Classified by Function The following sentences give examples of the way adverbs can be used as shown in the above criteria. English translations follow roughly the same word order to help clarify the adverbs usage, although other word orders usually are possible.) Telling us when: Pronto voy a verte. (Soon I am going to see you. Pronto tells when I will see you.) Telling us how: Los estamos observando cuidadosamente. (We are watching them carefully. Cuidadosamente tells how they are being watched.) Telling us where: A Amanda le gusta jugar afuera. (Amanda likes to play outside. Afuera tells where Amanda likes to play by explaining where.) Modifying a verb: Entonces estudiamos con nuestros amigos. (Then we will study with out friends. Entonces affects the meaning of the verb estudiar by explaining when.) Modifying an adjective: Espaà ±a todavà a està ¡ muy verde. (Spain still is very green. Muy affects the meaning of the adjective verde by indicating intensity.) Modifying another adverb: Muy pronto voy a verte. (Soon I am going to see you. Muy affects the meaning of pronto by indicating intensity.) Modifying a sentence: Desafortunadamente no voy a estar aquà . (Unfortunately, I am not going to be here. Desafortunadamente affects the meaning of the rest of the sentence by explaining its significance.) Examples of Adverbs Classified by Meaning Adjectives can also be categorized by the way in way they change meaning. In some cases, this affects whether they come before or after what is modified. Adverbs of manner: Adverbs of manner are the most common and are used in a wide variety of situations, as they tell how something is done. In Spanish, they typically come after the verbs they modify. Estudia bien. (She studies well.)Canta mal. (He sings poorly.)Conduce lentamente. (He drives slowly.)Me abrazà ³ carià ±osamente. (She affectionately hugged me.)Leo mucho. (I read a lot.) Intensifiers and modifiers: These serve to make the adverb or adjective they modify either more or less intense. They come before the words they modify. Estoy muy cansada. (I am very tired.)Es poco inteligente. (He is not very intelligent.)Està ¡ mà ¡s borracho. (He is quite drunk.) Point of view adverbs: These adverbs modify an entire sentence and evaluate it. Although they usually come at the beginning of a sentence, they dont have to. Quizà ¡s à ©l tenga miedo. (Perhaps he is afraid.)Personalmente, no lo creo. (Personally, I dont believe it.)Pablo evidentemente estudia mucho. (Pablo obviously studies a lot.) Adverbs of time: These adverbs tell when something occurs. They often come after the verb but can come before. Salimos maà ±ana. (Were leaving tomorrow.)No estudia nunca. (He never studies.) Adverbs of place: These adverbs tell where an action or process occurs. They can be confusing for beginning learners, since many of the adverbs that indicate place can also function as prepositions or even as pronouns. Adverbs of place appear either before or after the verb they modify. It is more important in Spanish than in English to make certain that the adverb is placed close to the verb it modifies. Està ¡ aquà . (It is here.)Allà comeremos. (Well eat there.)Te busca arriba. (He is looking for you upstairs.) Quick Takeaways Adverbs are a type of word that is used to affect the meaning of an entire sentence or certain words, particularly verbs, adjectives, and other adverbs by telling us how, when, or where.Spanish adverbs based on adjectives frequently end in -mente.Depending on how they are used, Spanish adverbs can be placed before or after the words whose meanings they change.

Masuji Ibuse and ââ¬ÅBlack Rainââ¬Â Free Essays
Japan has a very rich history as well as a very rich culture. It was home to famous artists and poets, which gets their inspiration from whatever is happening in the country. One of these writers is Ibuse Masuji, who was the writer of the 1965 masterpiece, Kuroi Ame or ââ¬Å"Black Rain. We will write a custom essay sample on Masuji Ibuse and ââ¬Å"Black Rainâ⬠or any similar topic only for you Order Now â⬠The inspiration of this is the previous bombing of Hiroshima, where black rain refers to the radioactive ââ¬Å"rainâ⬠that spread out to the people in the area. Ibuse Masuji came from a family of independent farmers, born as the second of a landowner in Hiroshima, Japan. Ibuse spent his young years in the countryside, in a small village called Kamo in the east of Hiroshima Prefecture. When he became 19, started going to Waseda University in Tokyo, where he had his fill of the ideas from brilliant minds of history, most especially regarding surrealism and Marxism. The specialty which he took in college was on French literature, but his interests were more on the works of Russians like Tolstoy and Chekov (ââ¬Å"Masuji Ibuse,â⬠2002). But because of an unwanted incident where Masuji Ibuse was sexually harassed by a gay professor, he was forced to quit school. His writings surfaced in the early 1920ââ¬â¢s, but his works were not recognized until the late 1920s with the positive feedback given by an influential modern critic named Kobayashi Hideo. Because of this, people noticed Masuji Ibuseââ¬â¢s works, wherein he later gained a large following due to peopleââ¬â¢s admirations. Despite his emergence as one of the new modern writers, he chose to take the path of traditional techniques which is known to his place of origin. His techniques were more on the first person aspect where he used the subjective ââ¬Å"I-novelâ⬠mode of Japan. This technique is characterized by having a narrator and author in one. Southern Japanââ¬â¢s countryside inspired him to come up with his short story, ââ¬Å"Koiâ⬠which marked his traditional techniques. Ibuseââ¬â¢s pre-war works showed his wry humor as an artists, as well as having characters which are psychologically sharp yet sympathetic villagers, peasants, doctors, farmers and other unchanging people. This is the distinguishing trait of Ibuseââ¬â¢s style when he writes. When the World War II broke out, Masuji Ibuse led a different life. He served in the propaganda units, which has also inspired him to write about Japanese propagandists. He was able to look at life differently because of all the wars. Warââ¬â¢s cruelty served as a new inspiration for his writings. One of his great creations which emerged from this aspect was ââ¬Å"Black Rain,â⬠which shows his take on the fateful events caused by the Hiroshima bombings, making it as one of the best Japanese novels known to the world. The novel Black Rain chronicled various stories of the hibakusha or the survivors of the Japanese atom bomb (The Hiroshima Project, 2007). It showed their struggles for acceptance, and their sufferings from discrimination and social isolation. This is all because of the radiation poisoning, when they were exposed to huge amounts of radiation during the bombings. These people may have survived the attacks, but the life they had afterwards showed how hard it is being in their place. This novel became famous to western readers even though the author was Japanese. This was partly because of how the novel depicts its contents, which is more on the human perspective. It ignores the political factors that existed around that time. It focused on the issue on the extent of devastation that these bombs can cause, nd that the suffering that is connected with it is not only on those who wee directly suffered from the bombings, but also with generations after generations from the victims. We will write a custom essay sample on Fossil Fuels Our Society or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page We succeeded in providing the demand and now that same man-made compound is used today. My theory is that the same thing will go on with such things as plastic, which is made from fossil fuels. Person will either come up with a man-made plastic or come up with something to replace for plastic. The individual who comes up with the solution will go and instant millionaire and everyone will be happy. There is one draw back of this manner of work outing jobs, I mean certain it # 8217 ; s great to wait until the demand but we should still larn from our errors. We should learn to be after in front and see what the effects could perchance be. We still have other demands to run into, there are three major demands of fossil fuels and they are heati nanogram, transit, and industry. Although transit is taken attention of, we may non like the idea of a solar auto or an electric auto but there are solutions out at that place. Frankly the oil companies Don # 8217 ; t want to lose their monopoly in the transit industry and that brings us into the whole economic system issue. If we run out of fossil fuels what will go on to the economic system? Will it endure? These are merely a few inquiries that are asked mundane, but for now we are merely traveling to look at solutions for demands on fossil fuels. This chart below illustrates the demands and the possible solutions. Energy Demand Alternative Energy Sources and Practices heating # 8211 ; solar warming, heat pumps, geothermic energy, biomass gas, and electrical from hydro and atomic workss transit # 8211 ; alcohol/gasohol and H fuels, and electric vehicles # 8211 ; mass theodolite, bikes, and walking # 8211 ; solar energy, atomic energy, and hydroelectricity # 8211 ; improved efficiency and waste heat recovery In decision I don # 8217 ; t think the demand for a replacement for fossil fuels will be to the full met until the demand arises. A replacement possibly found before the demand, but as history demonstrates the usage of it will either be delayed or will non occur. As for the economic system occupations will be lost, but occupations will besides be created in new countries. The large oil companies will lose large and so may some little states like Kuwait. No 1 can truly foretell how the economic system will turn out but if the replacement or replacements are less unsafe to the environment and non as difficult on natural resources our economic system will finally acquire over the lose of their cherished oil.
